Darrin grew up in Sacramento California and joined the Army at age 18. After completing basic training, he was given the opportunity to attend the West Point Prep School in New Jersey. This is where he met his future wife, Suzanne. Both Sue and Darrin attended West Point, graduating in 1989 and entered active duty as officers. They were married three days after graduating.

Neither one of us had grown up in Christian homes or knew much about a personal relationship with Christ. They were assigned to Fort Lewis, Washington in April of 1994 and in September Darrin was deployed to Haiti. During his time away, Sue was ministered to by some neighbor ladies and received Jesus Christ as her personal Lord and Savior. When Darrin returned from Haiti, he was opposed to Sue’s new found faith. Sue continued to be faithful to what God had cemented in her heart and after months of resistance, Darrin finally decided to attend church with her and their little girl, Allyson. He enjoyed the service and began attending each week but resisted anything else. Finally one Sunday afternoon after church, he asked Sue what it meant to be a Christian and she led him to Christ. He immediately repented and received Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior, May of 1995.

In October 1998, Darrin resigned his commission and left a successful career as an Army officer to pursue ministry. He attended seminary and worked as the youth pastor and was the area director for a para-church ministry. After three years of ministry, Darrin entered the sales and marketing arena but He continued to work with young people and ministry at his church during this time. In February of 2005 God lead Darrin to Youth for Christ and He began his ministry as the Youth Guidance Director

His mission as the Youth Guidance Director has been to reach at-risk youth in the juvenile detention centers in Pierce County and beyond with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. This has evolved into ministering to urban youth throughout the downtown, eastside and hilltop communities in Tacoma. In January, 2008- Darrin began splitting his time as the Youth Guidance Director with his new responsibility as the Metro Tacoma Director. He continues to be responsible for oversight of the Juvenile Justice Ministry, but adds officially the responsibility of the downtown, Hilltop and Eastside communities along with the local school campuses located in those areas. This is exciting and he looks forward to reaching urban kids in need of the truth, hope, love and peace of Jesus Christ. He believes that this next generation of youth, especially the often times forgotten youth in the cities and jails of this country, will be used by God to change the world.

Darrin and Sue have three amazing children, Allyson, Samantha and Ezra and live in Tacoma.
