JOSH VAN WHYE // Wilson High School //
Josh was saved in 1998 when Benny Perez came to Tacoma and spoke at PLU. Three years later, at the age of twenty-one the Lord asked Josh, “are you going to continue living for yourself, or are you going to live for me?” Josh, disgusted by the idea of his life continuing its present course, told God that, though he didn't know how he wanted to live for God alone. Josh put off his plans to become a graphic designer and went to school to learn the bible. He spent two years finishing his undergrad at Seattle Pacific University. He then returned to Tacoma in order to serve at the church he had gotten involved with. He volunteered as a junior high school leader for two years and then moved up to high school ministry to fill a need. He volunteered for three more years when he realized that there was a need to reach students outside of the walls of the church. In early 2007 the Lord put it on Josh's heart to pursue Wilson High School in Tacoma. Josh volunteered through a local faith-based non-profit for a year in order to meet students and meet the needs of the school. At the same time Josh studied and graduated from Faith Evangelical Seminary with a Master's Degree of Theological Studies.
In the summer of 2008 Josh was hired by Tacoma Youth For Christ in order to reach Wilson High School with the truth of Jesus Christ.
Passions that bring Josh to life include: His wife, Kelly; Hiking in God's beautiful creation; Playing and writing music to Our Lord Jesus Christ.
