Bio: Robyn Buchanan

ROBYN BUCHANAN // JJM Intern //
Robyn grew up in a super small town near Yosemite National Park in California with her mom, dad, and older sister. Growing up in a small town was pretty simple; life consisted of going to school, playing on school sports teams, and staying out of big sisters way. Robyn met Jesus as a child, but a lack of discipleship meant she wasn’t raised with the peace, hope, and love of walking daily with Christ, she didn’t know what a close friendship the Lord looked liked. She went off to California State University, Chico where she started studying Art History and Art Education. Her dream was to take young people around the world. After a year, she switched her major to Entrepreneurship, something with a little more opportunity. As Robyn neared graduation from university, she wanted so badly to believe what people were telling her; “God has a plan and a purpose.” “He made you unique.” “He’ll make your next steps clear.”
Robyn realized that after spending over 16 years devoted to her education, she should spend some time devoted to seeking the Lord and learning exactly who this God was. She moved to Perth, Australia in October of 2007 to do a Discipleship Training School with Youth With A Mission. For the first time, Robyn knew the love of the Father and as she traveled to Indonesia and Nepal on outreach, she discovered the joy in telling others about Him.
Robyn came on staff with the Juvenile Justice team at Tacoma Youth For Christ in October, and is part of the team leading Chapel and life skills classes for the girls in Remann Hall. She loves each and every girl so much, and stands in faith that God’s dream for them will be realized. She believes they will not be lost!
Robyn’s dream is the same, to take young people around the world, but she wouldn’t be taking students to learn about art, she’d be taking an army that’s been transformed by the love of Christ and she’d be taking them to the nations to preach the Good News. She thinks that is a little more exciting than looking at art pieces in museums!
