Lisa was born and raised in the Midwest yet drawn to Washington by the smell of strong coffee, by the call of the mountains and by the brilliantly unique culture of the Pacific Northwest. She and her husband Andy live in Tacoma and are pursuing the dream of starting a family by means of adoption.
Lisa graduated from Cedarville University in Ohio with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Applied Psychology and from Dallas Theological Seminary in Texas with a Master's in Biblical Counseling.
Her story: "As long as I have known anything, I have known and felt the powerful love of Christ. My ultimate dissatisfaction with emptiness of the “riches” of life has repeatedly confirmed for me that only following Christ brings true contentment. My story is that I am a real person with real trials, grief and insecurities. But I believe in a God who can weave the worst of circumstances for extraordinary good."
After Lisa and her husband went through the foster care training required by the state in order to adopt, she felt a strong connection to the vision of YFC and their heart for the modern day orphans. She knew that she had to be involved and now work part time as a Case Aide supervising visits between birth parents and their children. She also has the privilege of meeting foster parents who make a difference everyday in the life of their foster kids and inspire her to envision her part in the mission of providing for children in need.
Lisa enjoys participating in triathlons during the warm months, hiking & camping, trying her hand at the culinary arts and counseling with women who have a desire to grow spiritually.
